The Specific Relief Act, 1963 · Part I — PRELIMINARY
(1) This Act may be called the Specific Relief Act, 1963. (2) It extends to the whole of India [***]. (3) It shall come into force on such date as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.
Sections of the SRA are not classified one by one by any First Schedule. Part II of the First Schedule to the BNSS classifies offences under every other law by the punishment they carry — and the CRPC’s First Schedule sets out the same three bands.
If punishable with death, imprisonment for life, or imprisonment for more than 7 years.
If punishable with imprisonment for 3 years and upwards but not more than 7 years.
If punishable with imprisonment for less than 3 years or with fine only.
